Terms and Conditions – Machupicchu Exploration

Thank you for choosing Machupicchu Exploration for your Peruvian adventure. Traveling in Peru may differ from experiences in your home country. We ask that you carefully read these Terms and Conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.

About Us:

Machupicchu Exploration is a local, family-owned tour operator based in Cusco. We specialize in creating personalized tours, treks, and experiences, providing high-quality service while complying with all local regulations.

Uncontrollable Events (Force Majeure)

Certain events cannot be foreseen or controlled, such as natural disasters, civil unrest, strikes, fires, or severe weather. In such cases, Machupicchu Exploration may need to adjust or postpone tours. Additional fees may apply if changes affect your itinerary.

Risks and Safety

Adventure activities (e.g., Machu Picchu day trips, Inca Trail, Salkantay, Lares, Choquequirao treks) involve inherent risks. You assume responsibility for personal accidents, medical emergencies, or travel disruptions. Machupicchu Exploration is not liable for such incidents.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance covering accidents, medical expenses , emergency repatriation, cancellations, and lost luggage. If you decide do it, please provide a copy of your policy by email at info@machupicchuexploration.com or bring it to our office before your tour.

Booking Dates and Confirmation

Please indicate the exact date of your tour or hike. Machupicchu Exploration will only process your booking for the date you select. You will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours after your deposit. If you entered the wrong date when booking, please contact us immediately by email or WhatsApp to request a change. Date modifications are subject to availability of entrances, trains, and other services.

Personal Information

Passport numbers and personal details must be accurate. Notify us immediately of any changes. This is essential for tours requiring permits, especially Machu Picchu.

Reservation and Deposit

Reservations require a US$200 deposit. Payment can be made online. (4.5% processing fee). Deposits are non-refundable. Reservation is confirmed once the deposit is received. A binding agreement is established. All clients on the booking are committed to these Terms and Conditions. Personal details (full name, passport number, nationality, date of birth) must be provided when booking.

Student and Child Discounts

Students 12–17 years: $20 USD discount (ISIC card required for ages 18+) Children 2–12 years: $20 USD discount Children 0–2 years: free Send passport copies to info@machupicchuexploration.com at booking.

Final Payment

The remaining balance must be paid at least two days before the tour at our office, or in advance via Visa or other payment methods we offer. (4.5% fee). Payments accepted in USD or PEN; torn bills are not accepted.

Reservations require a US$200 deposit. Payable via Visa other payment methods we offer (5.5% processing fee). Deposits are non-refundable. Reservation is confirmed once the deposit is received. A binding agreement is established. All clients on the booking are committed to these Terms and Conditions. Personal details (full name, passport number, nationality, date of birth) must be provided when booking.

Cancellation Policy

Notification: All cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@machupicchuexploration.com . Deposit: 100% non-refundable due to pre-paid permits and services. Cancellation Fees: 8+ weeks before departure: deposit only 8–4 weeks: 60% of total price 4–5 days: 80% of total price 48 hours–5 days: 90% of total price Less than 48 hours: 100% of total price Cancellations during treks are non-refundable unless Machupicchu Exploration is at fault.

Changes by Clients

Only the person who made the reservation may request changes. A $35 USD fee applies. Changes are subject to availability and may incur additional costs. Important: Inca Trail permits are non-changeable, non-transferable, and non-refundable.

Changes by Machupicchu Exploration

Tours may need adjustment due to uncontrollable events. We will make every effort to provide an alternative of comparable value. Major changes will be communicated promptly, and clients can choose to accept or decline the modification.

Health and Pre-Trek Briefing

Spend 2–4 days at high altitude (3,000+ meters / 9,842+ feet) before treks to minimize altitude sickness. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and smoking, consume carbohydrate-rich meals, and consider coca tea or other, consult with your doctor. A briefing is held the evening before your trek at our office (6–7 PM). Duffel bags and sleeping bags (if purchased) will be provided. Please check our packing checklist before attending the briefing.
