Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco City Highlights & Nearby Ruins
The meeting time will be confirmed with you, according to whether you choose the morning tour (8:00 am) or the afternoon tour (1:00 pm).
Sacsayhuaman (UNESCO World Heritage Site), located just outside Cusco city, is the first stop. This masterfully constructed Inca temple, built in the 14th century by Inca Pachacutec, features impressive stonework with giant rocks and panoramic views of Cusco.
On the way back from Sacsayhuaman, we will stop at the main square of Cusco, known as Huacaypata (“the place of tears”), where Tupac Amaru II was executed in the 1780s after his unsuccessful rebellion against the Spanish.
Here you will have a good opportunity to see the main cathedral of Cusco (entrance inside is optional and the entrance ticket is not included). If you take this optional activity, you will see ornately carved woodwork, crypts, and several famous paintings, including “The Last Supper of the Incas.”
Finally, we will visit Qoricancha (Sun Temple), the most important religious and sacred Inca temple, dedicated to the Sun God, where you can see excellent examples of Inca and Spanish architecture.
At the end of the tour, you can decide where we leave you.
