Itinerary

Day 1: Airport to Pisac Ruins and Llama Farm

We recommend arriving in Cusco before midday. Upon arrival, we will meet you at Cusco Airport and start the adventure to the Sacred Valley right away, driving to the eastern side of the valley while you enjoy the amazing scenic views.

Our first stop is Pisac Ruins, one of the biggest archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. You will be amazed by the stunning Inca farming terraces and the fort-like ruins of an Inca village on top of the mountain. A visit to the Pisac Market is optional.

At your request, we can also stop at the Ccochahuasi Animal Rescue Center and/or a Llama Farm.

At the end of the tour, we drop you off at your hotel in Urubamba or Ollantaytambo – both beautiful, quiet towns.

Recommended towns to book your accommodation: Urubamba / Ollantaytambo.

Day 2: Full-Day Sacred Valley Tour: Ollantaytambo, Moray and the Salt Mines

We start the second day’s adventure with pick-up from your accommodation at 8:00 AM.

First, we explore Ollantaytambo, known as a living museum due to its old houses still inhabited by locals, and explore the fascinating megalithic ruins.

We then drive to the amazing circular Inca terraces of Moray, unique among the Inca sites in the Sacred Valley, believed to be an elaborate agricultural laboratory.

After visiting these unique sites, we make a stop at a local restaurant for a well-deserved lunch (at extra cost).

We visit the famous Salt Mines of Maras, where locals, since pre-Inca times, have obtained salt by evaporating warm salty water from a nearby spring.

Finally, if time allows, you visit Chinchero, a small town famous for its spectacular mountain views, traditional textile weaving centers, and well-preserved Inca ruins.

At the end of the tour, we drop you off at your hotel or the train station in Ollantaytambo, in case your trip continues to Machu Picchu. Note: the order of visiting the sites is flexible.

Is accommodation between Day 1 and Day 2 included?

No, accommodation is not included. You’ll need to book your own hotel in Urubamba or Ollantaytambo for the night between the two tour days.

Is this tour a good option right after landing in Cusco?

Yes, Day 1 begins with pick-up directly from Cusco Airport, so you can head straight to the Sacred Valley without first going into Cusco city.

Are entrance fees to the sites included?

Can I extend this into a Machu Picchu trip?

From start to finish, our experience with Machu Picchu Center was extremely professional. Immediately after booking, we received a detailed itinerary and all the e-tickets we would need, and the team was always available by email to answer questions as we prepared for our arrival in Cusco. The entire experience was incredibly well organized. From the pick-up and transfers to guidance about equipment and what we would need for the trek, everything was taken care of, allowing us simply to enjoy the experience. A very special mention goes to our wonderful guide, Jimmy, who met us at the train station and stayed with us throughout the day. He was extremely knowledgeable, attentive and, above all, incredibly supportive — especially during the more challenging moments of the climb. His encouragement and help made a real difference. The trek itself is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful experiences in the world, and having such a professional and caring team made it even more memorable. The only area that could perhaps be improved was the briefing the evening before the trek, which we found a little unclear. However, once the day began, everything ran flawlessly. I lead a group from Los Angeles and brought along 16 kids ages 15- 21. As I prepared the trip, one of my biggest concerns was who would the tour guide would be like. I have to say that the success of my trip was in part due to Mr. Jimmy. He was knowledgeable, passionate and and an overall great human being. Mr. Jimmy understood my group’s concerns and acted patiently and supportive, specifically during an emergency situation when one of my students got dangerously ill before getting to Puno. His assistant and coordination with ambulance, hospital and hotel, allowed me to focus on my student. I will be forever grateful for his support and encouragement.
